…of the day: introducing Abd Al Malik

I might have posted a video of this man before but I thought he deserved his own post.  I’ve been listening to his rap for over a year now and I’m a huge fan.  I love how he presents his songs – he has a calm voice, a confident voice.  He’s a gifted performer, both as a rapper and as a spoken word artist.

His stories are interesting, compelling, the rhymes and rhythms are HOT and the poetry is intelligent… he shouldn’t be copied but he should be studied by spoken word artists, slam poets and rappers alike.

Abd Al Malik demonstrates slam poetry (in French):

On 9/11 (with English subtitles)

My favourite of his work: “Il se rêve debout” (in French, no subtitles)

You’ll notice less posts this week as I am swamped with appointments and job interviews.  I’ll have more time soon.  In the meantime, I’m curious: are there any topics that you’d like to see me write about?
