Once upon a return…

Posted on Apr 5, 2011 in Simple Life | 4 comments

Hello. I’m back. What was supposed to be a one-month break turned into two months. Oops? I don’t want to fret over these things anymore. I don’t want to write because a blogger is supposed to write regularly. I don’t want to compromise my thoughts in order to start creating content. There’s too much of that shit online already, don’t you think? I’ve missed you. “You” as in my blog and as in “you”… out there… so many of you who have written comments or who have written to me, and in some cases, who I now...

Money and ideas: where do you draw the line?

I just finished watching the documentary film, “Graphic Sexual Nature”.  It’s a film about a website called insex.com and it featured images and videos of bondage scenes.  Viewers paid a fee to become members and they could interact with the shows through live chat (the episodes were filmed and streamed live).  But this wasn’t your typical bondage website – it was hardcore bondage, probably the ‘best of the worst’ in terms of horror and torture.  And it was one guy in charge of it all – Brent Scott, a former Carnegie Mellon professor. I need to get an Upper GI test done.  The doctor has referred me to the hospital here in Ottawa.  I got a call from them today telling me that the soonest they can get me in is at the end of May.  They couldn’t give me an exact date yet.  They said I’d get a phone call or a letter in the mail later on to confirm my appointment date and time. So I made a few phone calls to local laboratories and they’re fully booked until mid-August. I’m in some serious pain and discomfort.  Today, it was especially bad and I needed a few moments here and there to cry.  I cried...

The Age of Gadgetry

Posted on Jan 27, 2010 in Finance, Simple Life, Tech | 2 comments

“I must have it”.  Whenever I hear this, I always wonder what it is that the person has to have and most of the time, it’s some sort of gadget.  Often, it’s a gadget made by Apple.  I saw a great quote today about utility and luxury and that Apple products mostly exist as luxury items (Dell exists for utilitarian purposes!).  I also read that the new Apple iPad is likely going to kill off the Kindle. For those of you who aren’t familiar with all of this, the Kindle is an e-reading device.  Essentially, you can read hundreds of electronic books on this...
