…of the day: a few of my favourite new sounds

Posted on Dec 14, 2010 in ... of the day | 0 comments

I use Grooveshark A LOT.  It’s the best way to discover new music (especially since Pandora no longer works in Canada).  One day, I entered random words in a Grooveshark search and assembled a gigantic random playlist.  When I work from home, I play it and end up “favouriting” the songs I love the most. I thought I’d share some of the new music I’ve been discovering as of late: Ratatat: I think these guys only do instrumentals but it’s pretty awesome! Magyar Posse:  I love this group’s work!  Very intense instrumentals. Daedelus: Great, great,...

…of the day: simon’s cat!

There an endless amount of cat videos out there, but there aren’t very many good animated versions out there… except for the Simon’s Cat series!  The animator is incredibly talented – you can tell that he’s been living with a cat for quite a while and that he’s observed its behaviour for a while.  Everything from the way the tail moves to the chattering of the teeth when the cat spots a bug is done so brilliantly well! Sigh. My crush on Toronto has just gotten stronger. I’m back in the capital and I can’t help but reminisce of the times I spent in the big city. It’s not like I explored it very much – a lot of my time was spent camping out in my hotel room, pretending the world outside didn’t exist… or at the very least, that I could just take a break from it. I needed that. I needed to lay in bed and play video games or watch movies or order a really expensive meal for dinner. It’s good to pamper yourself once in a while – do it! Other than the people...

…of the day: my beloved Toronto, my beloved Brigitte

Not much of a blog writer this week. I have been busy with my Her Voice project as well as with Silly Robot.  Tomorrow, I leave for another trip to Toronto.  I was there a few weeks ago – for the first time in almost seven years!  After a quick weekend visit, I fell in love with the city.  I’d never felt so passionate for Toronto until then.  What I love about the big city is that nobody cares about you.  Sometimes, I need that – I need to be in a place full of people where no one cares.  I can watch them, I can join in, I can find a wall to lean on and pretend...
